Saint-Martin

The island of Saint Martin is a little known paradise for ornithologists, thanks to the nine lakes in the island’s nature reserve, run by Romain RENOUX. We observe these winged voyagers in the company of Philippe BOUVIER.

“More than 80 species of birds come here to nest, to rest or feed in St Martin’s lakes. (…) The West Indies forms a sort of bridge between North and South America, enabling birds to avoid a crossing of several thousand kilometres. Its not very well known to European ornithologists. However they like seeing North American species. This area is very good for that; you can see a lot of different species during the migration season.”
